Missionary Sisters of
        Our Lady of Apostles

The XVI GENERAL CHAPTER
of the Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles

Français
The theme for our reflection was: Initial Formation
We listened to Sr. Daniela who reintroduced us to the sector of this Formation which goes from the postulancy to admission of the Young Professed to Perpetual Vows.
We therefore reflected in our different groups on the objectives that the 2003 General Chapter had fixed for renewing our Formation and allowing the young sisters to experience the intercultural dimension.
Unanimously, we highlighted the fact that majority of the objectives have been achieved:
a- Most of our Formation Houses are equipped with intercultural communities and international teams.
b- The Institute has enabled the young ones to experience multicultural dimension of our Charism and they have had the experience of Mission ad extra.
  • An Experience immersion in another culture and language is offered to the Young Postulants, and that is well appreciated,
  • The content of formation (Growth in the Lord) stresses this multicultural dimension and the mission ad extra  of our Charism,
  • Some Young Professed, since 2010, leave for mission ad extra immediately after the 1st Vows,
  • The international seminar in preparation for perpetual vows, and the sending on  mission has been effective,
c- A restricted number of Candidates in certain Provinces have been sent to the Francophone or Anglophone Novitiate in Africa, and have been able to do their formation while experiencing intercultural dimension.
When it comes to aspects of Initial Formation which need to be improved, the stress was very much on the Accompaniment of the Young Professed: the Receiving (Community) and the Service of the Accompagnatrice.
And we are continuing our reflection because, as the document Starting Afresh from Christ (n.18) exhorts us we have " to be very generous in dedicating our time and best energies to formation., even if that includes important sacrifices (for), the consecrated persons themselves are, in fact, the best resources that we have. ".
